Language and Literature

Studies in language and literature are designed for students from a wide variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds, who have experience using the language of the course in an educational context. The focus of the study is to develop their characteristics and receptive, productive, and interactive skills.

In this course, students study a wide range of literary and non-literary texts in a variety of media. By examining communicative acts across literary form and textual type alongside appropriate secondary readings, students will investigate the nature of language itself and how it shapes and is influenced by identity and culture. The course offers a wide range of approaches to studying such as literary theory, sociolinguistics, media studies and critical discourse analysis, among others.
